Nikolai Suetin

Nikolai Suetin (1897 – 1954) Designat porslin (1922-1923)

He lived in Petrograd from 1923, and worked at the State Lomonosov Ceramics Factory. He also worked at the State Petrograd Lomonossov Porcelain Plant (from 1922 until 1924), and at the Porcelain Plant in Government of Novgorod (from 1924 until 1925). Suetin was a member of GINKhUK (the State Institute of Artistic Culture, from 1923 until 1926), where he worked at the experimental laboratory; then later at the Institute of Art History (from 1927 to 1930). Nikolai Suetin

Nikolai Suetin (1897-1954) Suprematistisk komposition

From 1932 he was the Chief Artist at the artistic laboratory of the Leningrad Lomonossov Porcelain Plant, where he had been working for around a decade applying avant-garde patterns and artworks to porcelain. He also worked as a book illustrator and exhibitions designer, where he maintained an avant-garde style despite the demands of Socialist Realism. Ref. Wikipedia

John Sloan

Sloan har kallats "the premier artist of the Ashcan School who painted the inexhaustible energy and life of New York City during the first decades of the twentieth century", (ref. Grant Holcomb).

Målarstilen är saklig och Canaletto kan ha haft hjälp av ett tekniskt hjälpmedel, en camera obscura. Men Canaletto har trots detta tagit sig vissa friheter och placerat triumfbågens text som är synlig från nordsidan så att vi ser den från sydsidan. Konstantinbågen är en triumfbåge i Rom, uppförd 315 till minne av kejsar Konstantins seger över Maxentius vid Pons Milvius 312.

Kurt Schwitters

He’d been denied membership in Berlin’s Club Dada for not being “political enough,” so shrugged his shoulders and formed the Dada sub-movement of Merz (a fragment of the word “Kommerz,” taken from a bank’s newspaper advertisement and incorporated into an early piece). Though Merz’ membership was limited to Schwitters, he often collaborated with other Dadaists.

Berättelsen om Den lille pige med svovlstikkerne skrevs av Hans Christian Andersen år 1846. Det är en förskräckligt sorglig historia om en ung flicka som drivs ut en nyårsafton för att sälja svavelstickor. Det var ett träsnitt av Johan Thomas Lundbye (1818-1848) som inspirerade H C Andersen.
